Consolidate Your Love

The Panda Queen known as “Julie Moser” returned to the Kickass Command Post in Lebanon, NH, on March 17^th to continue her reign of dominance over deadbeat cells already in retreat.

The second round of chemotherapy, called the consolidation phase, is designed to collect and focus the cosmic forces of love that have poured in from family, friends, loved ones and mysterious (but generous) strangers, who sometimes send unmarked packages.

“Please! Please! Please let us know who you are, so we can thank you!” the badass said, holding up an adorable white unicorn (and yet hiding a box of chocolates and caramels from the husband). “We love surprises, but we’re also fans of attributing gratitude!”

Julie has conquered a sickness that washed over her after her first dose of chemo (with the help of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock nursing staff and their magic pills), and hasn’t been plagued with mouth sores during this round yet. She has begun to shed skin again, but this only reveals more of her inner beauty.

This phase is slated to end on Sunday March 21, after which time the Panda Queen will hibernate at home for six to eight weeks (while she waits for the next challenge to crush). During this brief hibernation, nurses will attempt to keep the Panda Queen awake by drawing blood samples twice a week to make sure her bones continue to sing a sweet song.  

The oncology team has already identified four potential donors for the bone-marrow transplant (not quite a Bo Derrick 10, but darn close), tentatively scheduled for July. These wonderful people deserve our love and gratitude, too, and we should all sit with the mystery of these connections and our unique time and place, where any one of us can save a life by giving some smallest part of ourselves to another.

Us
