February 7

Hi everyone,

I’ll start with the least-important news: We’ve put up a new blog site and I’ve migrated journal content over to it. No offence intended whatsoever to CaringBridge (they’re providing a very valuable service), but the repeated asks for money (to support the service) seemed a little disingenuous.

(That is, those asks sometimes look as though money is making the web space possible, which is true in only the loosest sense.)

The new site can be found at: https://campkickass.org/

The most recent blog post (this one, in fact) will be on the blog page and at the bottom of the homepage. I’m hopeful that the yahoo hack of the review plugin I used will allow people to continue to post well wishes and suggestions. Please e-mail me (not FB IM me) at randymoser@protonmail.com if you see big errors.

I’ll migrate over the well wishes to the new site, but the comments to journals will probably need to stay on CaringBridge.

Now for the exciting stuff! Jules continues to improve, and just today was unplugged from her IV stand (we affectionately called Poley). This means that she can not only scratch her toes effortlessly, but can also take showers (the husband doing the wash is very happy about this) and gesture wildly in the air (as in this picture).

Her mouth sores also continue to heal, and doctors, nurses, and husbands are still awestruck by her macho ability to scoff at excruciating pain. She will continue to have some sores until her white blood cell count comes up, but eating will help her manufacture more of those useful critters.

We are hoping to hear more about her biopsy results by next Monday. This chemo will have needed to knock the leukemia cells down to near zero for her to be set free in two weeks – which is possible – but staying for a second induction does not negatively affect her prognosis, according to all the doctors we’ve asked.

We can’t tell you often enough how much we have appreciated the emotional support of family, friends and fellow travelers.

Love you all!

Randy

Thank you so much! It’s funny – I never realized I had a wry smile but looking back at old photos I can see it through the decades! ? Here’s to more and thank you! ❤️

Julie, sending lots of positive healing thoughts your way. Randy, thanks so much for sharing.
Your friend,

Mary Ann

Thank you Doc and Katie! I can’t wait to get home to wear that tie dyed hoodie! Somehow my wardrobe the three weeks has been mostly tie dyed – it’s a state of mind! ❤️

Julie – I just found out today what you are going through. I had no idea! I just wanted to drop in and let you know that I am thinking about you! Please take care and keep us all updated!

Love all the pictures on this site! Thank you both for the updates and sharing. Julie, sending so many healing thoughts to your beautiful self! And Randy, thank you for your humor and tidbits. Glad Poley is gone and freedom reigns!

Thank you Anne! Poley sits by my side, sadly without a use. The other night I brought it in the bathroom with me even though I wasn’t hooked up! ?

Julie….hope you continue to do well. I am so impressed, inspired & amazed at your journey here. I can attest that you come from “good stock” and there is no doubt in my mind you will continue to thrive and beat this #$%&^ crap thrown at you. Others could & should certainly take a lesson from your playbook! And the next time I hear anyone bitch & complain about having to wear a mask until this virus is in the rear view mirror I’m going to send them to you…..”take a lesson people, take a lesson”!!! Sending peace, love & hugs all around!

You keep fighting on! The boys and I were dancing and listening to beastie boys this morning in the kitchen before school (90’s decade dress up day), you gotta fight for your right to party, you keep at this!! Thinking of you every day!!! Xoxo

It’s funny: when I wake up one of the first things in my head is the Bb’s “Kick It!!!” mantra! ❤️
